1ST TEAM MATCH REPORTS 2003-04 3rd January 2004 Dobwalls 0-1 Sticker Sticker fought hard throughout the whole 90 minutes and got a well-deserved first league win in seven games as they defeated highflying 5th place Dobwalls. The game saw a quite even first half with chance being few and far between. Both teams defended well and Sticker goalkeeper Chris Dowrick made two good saves. Nevertheless, it was the exciting second half that caught the tone for the match and it was Sticker who started the brightest when a defence-splitting pass from Andy Batt found Richard Crapp who continued his run of two goals in the last three games who slotted home a good drive. Sticker continued to defend well and with some further good saves from ‘keeper Chris Dowrick saw Sticker hold out for the last 45 minutes. In the first half Foxhole controlled the game with a series of quick attacks. They finally got their breakthrough on 25 minutes when Chris Kitson rounded keeper Neil Hunkin to slot home. From another breakaway, Daniel Nancarrow doubled Foxhole’s advantage just five minutes later. In the second half Sticker put up a spirited performance, however they never seemed to test goalkeeper Paul Collin. The only chance coming from Martin Bullock with a long-range effort, which was tipped over the bar by Collin. However it was Sticker who had the most notable chance of the first half when in the 35th minute Steve Webb got a shot in from a goal month scramble. Nevertheless, Padstow took the lead just five minutes later when a dubious free kick was taken and Danny Szamruchiewich fired it home. The second was much of a similar story, in the 63rd minute after good work from Richard Crapp and Kevin Brokenshire put his cross wide. Sticker had further chances but could never find that second goal. Early in the second half St.Blazey began to buzz but they never really created many scoring opportunities with Sticker defending extremely well, and with Adam Holland having the better of the exciting Carlton Farnham, St.Blazey found it hard to create many real chances despite having most of the possession, Richard Crapp had a lot more of the ball in a wind assisted second half and went on some searching runs and goalkeeper Neil Hunkin again played well.
