Saturday 10th December 2005 Camelford 1-4 Sticker Sticker returned to winning ways as the defeated a determined Camelford outfit, in a fairly evenly contested game. Sticker started brightly as did their hosts and the vistors who had already see Kristian Waters' volley go close, took the lead on the half hour, when the impressive Steve Webb glided past two Camelford defenders; his shot was well saved and the predatory Chris Kitson was their to snap up his 30th goal of the season. Sticker, on a high continued to play good football on a boggy pitch and doubled their lead when Webb again went at the Camel's experienced back line, and his cross was met by Ray Clarke's diving header, just five minutes later. Sticker would have felt happy go in 2-0 up at the break, but that did not happen as a defensive mix-up led to John Summerfield halving the depisit. With young midfielder Karl Spirane inspiring the Camels, they started to take control of the game in the second half, however, at the other end gaps started to appear in their defence. Chris Kitson missed a guilt edged chance as well as having a goal disallowed for offside. But, Sticker still held strong with Pete Davey clearing off the line and Ryan Holland making a couple of good saves to keep the hosts at bay. Sticker sealed the game, when with just 14 minutes remaining Steve Webb's probing pass found Kitson in behind the home defence, and he kept his cool to slot home his second, and 31st of the season. Sticker completed the romp when Phil Dingle's pinpoint cross was expertly headed home by substitute Kevin Brokenshire, with just 5 minutes remaining. Sticker (4-4-2): Ryan Holland, Kristian Waters, Phil Dingle, Pete Davey, Daniel Meens, Jeremy Pascoe (Kevin Brokenshire), Gary Warren, Adam Holland, Steve Webb, Ray Clarke (Liam Dingle) and Chris Kitson (James Chapman) Saturday 17th December 2005 Sticker 1-0 St.Dennis Sticker continued their good form with a battling 1-0 win over in-form St.Dennis, who where just a point behind the hosts before Saturday's game. Sticker found themselves without Pete Davey, so Kevin Brokenshire was therefore handed his second start of the season, as Rowett reshuffled into a 3-5-2 formation. Pascoe and Waters coming back into a back three with Phil Dingle; 15 year old Dan Meens, was pushed into the middle of the midfield, and another 15 yeard old, Liam Dingle was preferred to Ray Clarke up front, to play against his home town club. With both sides free scoring the week before, many fans may have turned up to see a goal feast, however, this was not to be the case. However, both sides did start strongly, Steve Webb, who looked to have the beating of his full back, was felled early on when he was in his stride going for goal. With Meens, Holland and Warren dominating the middle of the park, Sticker started to create chances and saw pacey Liam Dingle beat the offside trap twice, but, both times the youngster was unlucky not to hit the target. It was clear that both Dingle's and Kitson's pace was troubling the visitors at the back, when Kitson again got in behind, only to be expertly tackled by the impressive Carl Osborne, when it seemed as if the deadlock would have been broken. At the other end, St.Dennis did have their moments although failing to turn them into many clear cut goalscoring opportunities. Rowett was forced into changing things, at half time, Brokenshire, who had work commitments, was replaced by experienced striker Ray Clarke, with Liam Dingle switching back to the right hand side of midfield. Again controlling the midfield battle, Sticker started the second half well, and in the 50th minute after Steve Webb was felled, Chris Kitson duly dispatched the resulting 20 yard free kick, to record his 32nd goal of the season. With both sides playing good football, the visitors were forced into trying to gain that equaliser, with the hosts determined to try and find that illusive second goal on the counter attack. Sticker thought they got that second goal when after Chris Kitson was felled in the area, a penalty was given, just 5 minutes after taking the lead. However, Kitson's resulting penalty was well saved by Mike Barrett, in the Dennis goal. Sticker continued to counter and saw Webb and sweeper Pascoe both hit the woodwork, and Holland go agonisingly close after beating several St.Dennis defender's. With Sticker's in-form midfield of Holland, Meens and Warren contolling the midfield area, Sticker were looking strong. Carl Paull was thrown on by Osborne, in hope of an equaliser however his only attempt was forced wide. St.Dennis with young Carl Rickard and captain Richard Hawke, trying to create that equaliser, it seemed as if that final pass or composure in front of goal had evaded them from their 5-0 trouncing of Launceston, seven days earlier and the battling hosts Sticker, held on for all three points. Sticker (3-5-2): Ryan Holland, Jeremy Pascoe, Kristian Waters, Phil Dingle, Kevin Brokenshire (Ray Clarke), Daniel Meens, Gary Warren, Adam Holland, Steve Webb, Liam Dingle and Chris Kitson. Tuesday 27th December 2005 Camelford 0-4 Sticker League Cup 1/4 Finals Sticker booked their place in the league cup semi-final with a battling 4-0 victory over Camelford. After defeating Reg Hambly's men 4-1, just 17 days earlier, Sticker came into the game with the confidence of defeating their North Cornish hosts. Rowett was enforced to recall Chris Dowrick, home from university in place of Ryan Holland, fresh of his operation in goal. Ray Clarke, was also recalled in place of Kevin Brokenshire, with young Liam Dingle coming out on to the right hand side of midfield. The hosts started brightly, with Josh Bluett impressing down the left, however Chris Dowrick and his back three were looking strong; and it was this firm base that was created by Sticker, which was the catalyst for their success. After a few half chances their first real chance came 40 minutes into the game when, veteran defender Mike Hambly was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. Leaving Chris Kitson, who shrugged off Pascoe's claim on penalties, to convert from 12 yards out, and give the away side the lead. Camelford again came out strong looking for the equaliser, but the defence of Pascoe, Waters and Dingle ensured Sticker held on to their lead at half time. As expected the home side came out like a stream train looking for the equaliser, however, as in the first 45 minutes, Sticker again held strong with Dowrick's handling at its best. After holding on to the game, Sticker managed to create chances on the counter attack and with 15 minutes to go, Chris Kitson, who had missed a guilt edged chance, just moments earlier was pushed in the box, and the top scorer picked himself up, to cooly slot home his 34th goal of the season. Sticker looked in control, with Meens, Warren, and Holland controlling the middle of the park. Sticker seemingly sealed the game 10 minutes from time, with a contender for goal of the season, Steve Webb picked the ball up on the half way line, glided past several challenges, before cooly slotting home Sticker's third. Webb's running was rewarded with a rest, being replaced by James Chapman, Rowett had tightened up the midfield moments earlier, with Clarke, who battled from the front, dropping into the midfield. Sticker sealed the rout with another goal on the counter, just 5 minutes remaining, Chris Kitson did everything right, however, his goal-bound effort came back of the crossbar, and sub Chapman was there to hammer home his first goal of the season. Sticker held on to keep the clean sheet in tact, and therefore battled through to the league cup semi-finals. Sticker (3-5-2): Chris Dowrick, Jeremy Pascoe, Phil Dingle, Kristian Waters, Liam Dingle (Kevin Brokenshire), Daniel Meens, Gary Warren, Adam Holland, Steve Webb (James Chapman), Ray Clarke and Chris Kitson. |
