Sticker 1 Torpoint 1

Sticker at last got a point after three games and thoroughly deserved it. The game started at a lively pace with Torpoint controlling it playing good football but without creating any chances or shots on goal. Sticker finally got into the game in the last twenty minutes of the first half with some gutsy football and putting the Torpoint defence under some pressure. But no goals in the first half. H/T. 0-0.

The second half started with Sticker kicking down the slope and a raking pass from Bobby Hopkinson who had come on in place of the injured Rory Jarvis sent the diminutive Jack Hooper sprinting down the left side and as he flew past the last defender and into the box he was upended by a desperate tackle. The referee had no hesitation in awarding Sticker a penalty. Up stepped Frank McAvoy who slammed it into the net to give Sticker a deserved lead. 1-0. Torpoint came alive and put Sticker under tremendous but the defence was magnificent including keeper Jamie Blatchford. With Bobby Hopkinson with long searching passes to the two front players Sticker could have taken the lead with Tyler Cheshire beating his man and shooting just wide and then Tyler once again this time being provider when he sped past the defence and cut the ball back for Jack Hooper who brought a good save from the keeper. Torpoint finally scored an equaliser when an excellent move and great running gave their striker the chance to shoot and score in off the far post giving Jamie no chance.1-1. Sticker still defending briliantly managed to see the game out for a well deserved point. F/T. 1-1. Andy and Gary will no doubt be pleased to at least get a point but probably feel that this was a game that should have been won. They will obviously be disappointed in losing Adam Solomon so early in the season to Wadebridge who had started so well.

Helston 2 Sticker 1

Sticker much improved from their first game at Camelford went a goal down in the first five minutes but fought back to equalise with a fine individual goal scored by Tyler Cheshire and a very even game Stickers next best chance came when Joel Cockings came on in place of Calum Kenny but he was unable to convert! Then came the decider scored by Helston in extra time. F/T. 2-1 The Sticker players would be gutted at losing so late in the game but they have another chance to get some points on the board next Tuesday against Torpoint at Burngullow. The one bright spark of the evening for Sticker was the performance of young Jack Hooper making his first start for the club an exciting prospect!

Sticker in their penultimate match in their first season in the SWPL Premier division beat Callington away by 2 goals to nil.Scored by Player/Manager Andy Avery with his first goal of the season and Matt Lloyd. . Sticker lost to Callington only a couple of weeks ago under lights at Burngullow 1-3. So to-days result was sweet revenge.
